Companies House is the UK Registrar of Companies and is an Executive Agency of the UK Government's Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).
All forms of companies (as permitted by the Companies Act 2006) are incorporated and registered with Companies House and are required to file specific details as required by the Companies Act 2006.
All registered limited companies and LLPs, including subsidiary, small and inactive companies, must file annual financial statements (also known as Statutory Accounts).
Companies House maintains the statutory details of all of the UK's companies and is also responsible for permitting the formation of new companies and the dissolution of companies that are no longer required.
Any person can access the information on the Companies House register usually for a small fee.
Companies in Northern Ireland were merged with the Companies House database in October 2009 meaning that Company Controller can now form companies in Northern Ireland.
